Having spent a lot of time looking at the latest registry cleaner / registry defragmenters on the market, I’m glad to see that they are improving with each new version that gets released. Not all of them are getting the same amount of investment that you would like to see with each major revision however, there is something that stands out in each new release.
Today, we are publishing our findings from Uniblue’s Registry Booster review and evaluating whether it stands up to the claims that it makes on its website of cleaning up all your computer errors. We found a good old Dell laptop hidden away in one of our store rooms and ironically enough, it was running Windows XP. The good news is that these old computers make for an excellent test case for registry cleaners and the only way to really test a registry defragmenter is to use an old machine that has been used for many years without ever being properly maintained.
We downloaded Registry Booster, installed it and then let it loose on our laptop which surprisingly took less than 10 minutes to identify all the problems. I know what you’re thinking, 10 minutes! However, this is a really, really old laptop so it’s a little on the slow side. After it had completed its scan of the Windows Registry, we were presented with a number of summary statistics that were broken up into system and user errors. This is basically a breakdown of the level of corruption that exists within the Windows Registry.
The good news is that it took only a simple click of the “Fix errors” button to repair all of them and we were very glad that it had done so with such ease. Having seen some pretty badly maintained computers, we were quite impressed with how well Uniblue Registry Booster fixed all of these. It’s definitely worth looking into if you’re having problems such as errors, freezes, hangs, slow response, slow shutdown and startup problems with using Windows XP.
